Can a boss give you a 1099 without telling you?

i need a lot of help don't know much about this and other things . 1st off i got a 1099 last year and didn't know i was getting one. i didn't know their was a thing and didn't know that i had to pay the taxes for it . i had to pay off students loans (which i did) but i said to him i have to be on the books so i can base credit so i could get a credit card , so i could get a credit line in which a could get a loan to buy a new car. i didn't know that he was giving 1099 ,but i had to pay the taxes and i did ,but Does that mean i was on the books ? and can i get a w2 still because i didn't sub myself out for this and been working for 6 years now and didn't buy special tools and i have been still working for him ?please help i need all the info on this as possible! 2nd question can he take pay away from me because of "something i did" which it was not my fault , like i was working on a heating system and i had the switch off because their was not water in the boiler ,so i had to come back and finish and someone else turned the switch on before i came back and cracked the boiler? and if quit because I'm only working like 10 hours a week can i still get unemployment or do i have to get fired to get it and i think he will not fire me because i heard the boss has to pay the 1st 6 weeks of it and hes cheap ! he says that he won't fire me because he likes me .... is their of "quitting and still get unemployment " thanks if any one can help me.
